What is available ?

There are towels, sheets, toilet paper and soap.The little kitchen has hot water, cooking gear, a microwave, a toaster and a coffee machine. There is  some basic food like olive oil, sugar and salt. The closet contains clothes hangers.

How to get there?

There is no international airport  in La Gomera. Normally you use the airport of Tenerife South and then you have a 30 minute drive to the ferry terminal of Los Christianos. The boat will take you in an hour to San Sebastian de la Gomera.

  • Car: rent a car online with Cicar (allows for up to three drivers and they do not charge extra) at the airport or in the Port of San Sebastian de la Gomera. Fill the tank as there is no petrol station in Alojera.Playa de Alojera is a little over an hour drive from the ferry port of San Sebastian de la Gomera . The landscape is astonishing along the way. Try to avoid driving or arriving after sunset, especially in bad weather conditions.

Food and supplies

Do your shopping beforehand in the Trebol in San Sebastian or the Spar in Vallehermoso.

There are three little shops in Alojera.
Do not forget to buy water, as the tap water on La Gomera has a bad taste.

There is a regular coffee machine and a moka. So you have to buy ground coffee.

The sea : swimming and the sound of the waves

The temperature on the Canary Islands allows for year-round swimming, but as this is the Atlantic Ocean, always beware of the waves. With low tide it is easier to enter and exit the water.

The sea is very close by. You hear the sound of the waves.  Some people prefer ear plugs to sleep.

Hiking

The Rother walking guide of La Gomera exists in English, German and Dutch. You can buy it in specialised bookstores or online. The free app Maps.me (available in the Google Play Store) also has hiking trails. The mountains can be misty and cold, so be sure to pack the proper equipment when preparing for a day hike (or even a shorter walk).

Sun Bathing

The housing comes with a rooftop sun deck equiped with sun loungers and parasols

Money

ATM’s are available at San Sebastian, Vallehermoso or Valle Gran Rey. For comfort, be sure to bring some cash tot the island. As for safety issues: there are none to worry about on Alojera.

 Check in/Check out

Check in after 15:00, and check out before 11:00.

Payment

If no payment could be made in advance, a cash payment is required. You can pay to the cleaning lady . If you do not see her you can put the money in the key locker.

Arrival

Park your car up the road and walk 160 meters  to the apartamentos ” Sunset in the Atlantic”
Bring along your printed booking details for the wifi code, the code of the key locker and the room number as there is no mobile internet on 4G available.

Extra Bed

There is a comfortable (double) sofa bed in the living room. We also have a baby bed at your disposal.

 

Bar and Restaurant options

Bar Prisma is nearby and has excellent seafood. It’s closed on Wednesdays.
